Modern day tourism organisations use standardised tools such as Google Analytics to collect and report website statistics. Yet are the standardised KPIs provided by these tools really able to add value? Where do they come from, how are they collected and why are they important?
The first ECM Meetings Statistics Report will soon be released and made available to all ECM members on the intranet of the association. This report was one of the cornerstones of the ECM Research & Statistics Group for the year 2011 and it is thus a great pleasure to be able to share some of the key findings of this project with our readers.

European Cities Marketing has just published the seventh edition of its European Cities Marketing Benchmarking Report.
Based on a sample of 59 European cities, including many leading city tourism destinations in Europe, the ECM Benchmarking Report reveals that in 2010 the total number of bednights generated by these cities registered year-on growth of 7.0%. International bednights increased by 6.8%.
