ECM Summer School still at the top
This year the ECM Summer School was hosted by the city of Opatija, Croatia, from 30th August to 3rd September 2008.

Sixty-seven students from twenty-one European countries attended the ECM Summer School, this time organised in the agreeable surroundings of Croatian seaside city, Opatija. The intensive three-day programme allowed the students to acquire in a compact format the essential knowledge and skills needed in the Meetings Industry.

Although this year’s Summer School was already its 22nd edition, the educational content is still fresh and able to follow the evolution of the Meetings Industry. “Of course, the approach of ECM Summer School changes every year in order to keep in line with the students’ needs, the latest developments in the industry and also new media. On the other hand, the objective remains the same: provide a solid education for the people who start working in the Meetings Industry.”, explains the Course Leader, Elisabeth Hansa, Head of Marketing and Business Development-meetings, Congress+event, Graz.

The audience is traditionally diverse and this year was no exception to the rule – thus the students, from Convention Bureaux, Tourist Offices, Congress Centres, Hotels, DMCs, and PCOs, could learn not only from the speakers’ presentations but also from each other.
\n
Anne Wallin Rødven (Convention Director, Visit Oslo), one of the speakers, is convinced that the ECM Summer School is an enriching experience not only for the students but also for the speakers: “To meet so many young and dedicated people is like a vitamin shot! Every year I take home new inspiration.”
\n
Next year the ECM Summer School will take place in Bolzano, Italy, from 29th August to 2nd September 2009 and will be ready to welcome new students who wish to learn the essentials of Meetings Industry.
