A Finnish Touch for the 24th ECM Summer School

Tampere, Finland, will be the hosting city of the 24th ECM Summer School from 28th August to 1st September 2010.

As is the case every year, the number one goal of ECM Summer School is to provide a solid basic education for those just starting out in the Meetings Industry. The educational content is regularly updated and adapted to the latest industry trends as well as the changing needs of the participants.

The curriculum of the ECM Summer School is designed for a wide spectrum of professionals working in all sectors of the conference marketplace (convention bureaus, tourist offices, congress and convention centres, hotels, airlines, DMCs, PCOs and Meeting Planners).

An important development was implemented last year for the first time – the concept of green meetings and green venues. This innovation received extremely positive feedback and therefore, in 2010 and for the future, the topic of green events will be part of the educational programme of the ECM Summer School and a special emphasis will be put on the organisation of the event itself in a sustainable way. The city of Tampere is contributing a lot to the environmentally friendly concept of ECM Summer School. Moreover, Tampere’s support and the Finnish approach are making the organisation of a green event not only feasible but completely self-evident.

“Tampere is not a famous congress destination, but one which has almost always surprised congress delegates positively. The ECM Summer School will be held at a congress venue close to the town centre, but in the midst of a natural park by the lake. We are delighted to have the chance to invite our colleagues to see what we have to offer,” adds Ella Kuula, Convention Director of Tampere Convention Bureau.
