Strengthening Knowledge Exchange for City Destinations: European Cities Marketing and DTTT announce a new programme of support for the future of urban tourism
The Digital Tourism Think Tank (DTTT) today announced its renewed support for city destinations by strengthening the existing cooperation with European Cities Marketing (ECM). Working together with the philosophy of embracing a ‘partnership-led recovery’, members of both organisations will now benefit from four new areas of cooperation, including a new online group dedicated to Cities, ‘The Future of Urban Tourism’.
With the renewal of this long-standing partnership, members will benefit from exciting new programmes, including quarterly ‘Trends Chats’, exploring fresh perspectives in an exciting new format. ECM will also collaborate on DMO Journeys, an initiative from the DTTT going further behind the scenes into the work of destinations. This offers members a chance to follow the journey to transformation over time, as cities work through their recovery process.
Other areas of collaboration include strengthened cooperation on research and events, with the DTTT’s CEO, Nick Hall, providing thought leadership on global destination trends to the ECM Community at upcoming ECM Conferences. Later in the year, following the success of X Festival in 2020, both partners have committed to a strong focus on urban tourism at this year’s event through joint cooperation, with a co-authored programme segment, focusing on the questions being asked by ECM Members.
“With the ECM Strategy focusing on helping DMOs align their own strategic agenda with whatever demands, challenges and opportunities tomorrow will bring, we are delighted to come together again with the Digital Tourism Think Tank, where new areas of collaboration truly make us stronger together” said Petra Stušek, President of European Cities Marketing. “ECM is committed to the ‘power of community’ to build collaborative advantage by sharing, learning, meeting – and through that growing both as a community and as individual destinations and destination leaders. This reinvigoration of our work together with DTTT is a perfect example of this.”
“With the announcement of this new programme of activities with our longest standing partner, we are really excited about this new collaboration.” said Nick Hall, CEO of the DTTT. “It represents a significant strengthening of our existing partnership and a true coming together of values, knowledge and expertise, to create a uniquely relevant joint platform for dialogue, precisely when it’s needed most.”
This new partnership kicks off with the first Trends Chat at 16:00 CET on April 29, where the DTTT will be discussing the Future of Urban Tourism with perspectives from Paris and Dublin. A moderated discussion will follow thereafter for members in the Future of Urban Tourism group on the DTTT Community, exploring topics raised further as cities work towards a post-pandemic recovery. Participation is free for members of both organisations, shaped around their needs.
