Dear friends, dear colleagues,

\n

I had the honor of being elected chairman of the Working Group “Research & Statistics” during the meeting and General Assembly of our organisation which recently took place in Las Palmas. I would like to warmly thank the members of the Working Group for their confidence. I am also grateful to Hans Dominicus, the former chairman, whose commitment over the years was crucial in making “Research & Statistics” a group so beneficial to the members of our organisation.

\n

Together with the new vice-chairman, Henrik Jutbring from Göteborg&Co, we intend to give “Research & Statistics” a new impulse while reinforcing the existing assets of the Working Group: good projects and an excellent spirit will remain the cornerstones of our development. More than ever, we will continue to brainstorm about trends and experiment with new ideas related to research and city tourism.

\n

Through co-operation and knowledge-sharing and thanks to the enthusiasm of the experts involved in the activities of our working group, we have recently managed to ensure the future of the City Tourism Monitor, created new data on the use of social media and online sales in our organisations, developed the shopping basket functionality within TourMIS, increased our level of collaboration with the European Travel Commission and, last but not least, successfully completed our pilot survey on corporate and non-corporate meetings statistics.

\n

The positive reception afforded to the results of these projects as well as the interest they generated show that the members of our organisation have high expectations for our activities. Let them be thanked for their support. Together with the experts of the “Research & Statistics” Working Group, we will keep moving forward and do our best to meet the expectations of our members.
