Looking back at the Amsterdam meeting with Marc Horsmans
How is the ECM meeting different from other meetings?
\n
From the organisor’s point of view?
\n
\n
Let’s start with the organisor’s point of view
\n
\n
Since networking is so important at an ECM meeting, you must ensure that even the time before and after the specific meetings is arranged for that purpose…think about the space and set-up…everything to make starting a conversation easier.
\n
\n
\n
And from Marc Horsmans’ point of view?
\n
\n
And from a personal point of view, it was just a lot of fun. And although I already knew what ECM was about, I was still able to learn a lot about it and to go into more depth on what all the working groups are about, it gave me an insight into ECM’s activities, and added value to what I already knew about the association.
\n
But from both points of view – the professional and the personal – it was a great experience.
\n
\n
\n
At the Amsterdam meeting, a networking session was organised right after the seminar. What was the idea behind that?
\n
\n
To get our local and regional personalities into touch with the other European cities and also to show people how knowledgeable the ECM organisation is.
\n
\n
\n
What does ECM bring to you personally?
\n
\n
A network of colleagues who are always ready to help each other.
\n
\n
\n
Why do you like Amsterdam?
\n
\n
It’s my home!
\n
\n
\n
The best moment of the ECM meeting in Amsterdam?
\n
\n
Sinterklaas!*…it’s amazing how well he knew all the details about all the people.
\n
On a more serious note: we were also able to promote the ECM convention to our regional administrators and other local stakeholders. Therefore the exchange of knowledge amongst all the conference delegates contributed to an inspiring event.
