Looking back at the 23rd ECM Summer School

53 participants from 17 different countries came to Bolzano/Bozen in Italy to follow the 23rd ECM Summer School (29th August – 2nd September 2009). Two of them – Jan Oršic and Karin Wimmer – have shared their impressions with us.

How did the ECM Summer School compare with your expectations?
\n
\n
I never make plans on things I have never done before, I just go directly to the projects and then I adapt … and it was the same coming to ECM Summer School. However, I must say that it not only matched, but has even exceeded my expectations.

Which presentation did you appreciate the most?
\n
\n
I really enjoyed all of the presentations. Each of them covering their own field, not overlapping, just fitting perfectly together. It simply covered everything from the creation of a Convention Bureau to the bid presentation at the end… it was like being part of a thrilling story.

Was there anything that surprised you?
\n
\n
There were no particular surprises and at the same time everything together was one great surprise. If I had the opportunity, I would come back next year again.

How did the ECM Summer School compare with your expectations?
\n
\n
To tell the truth, my expectations were not particularly high as I didn’t know much about ECM Summer School. However when I arrived, I quickly realised that this introduction to the Meetings Industry would greatly assist me in my day-to-day work and would help me to understand the different players within the industry better.

\n
Which presentation did you appreciate the most?
\n
\n
I would say that all the presentations were useful for getting a really thorough overview. I learned a lot and gained new ideas from several presentations and from the discussions with the students and the faculty.

That work can also be so much fun!
