Lady President, Tuula Lindberg
Tuula Lindberg has done a great job for ECM. In the former EFCT she was head of the association from 1990 to 1994 and she also played an active part in the Summer School training from the very beginning of its existence. Today she has retired from her job, but not from her unbelievable energy!
\n
And what are the major points of Tuula’s professional career? She spent 10 years (1972-1982) with working for ‘Travel Agency Area’ as Manager of the Congress Department – what we would today call a PCO. However, it is Finland Convention Bureau which stands out when looking back at Tuula’s career as she worked, thought, created and put her energy into this organization from 1983 to 2008 as a Managing Director.

Tuula Lindberg is an exceptional lady who also spent a few years as president. Initially President of EFCT (1990-1994), afterwards she was elected the ICCA president from 1998 to 2002.

If you thought that a successful professional career and a rewarding family life are not compatible, just talk to Tuula. She’s certainly well placed to give you advice on how to manage an executive job, presidency of an association, a husband, four children and five grandchildren and believe it or not, she also has the time to enjoy her outdoor pursuits!

The best moment of my professional career:
\n
\n
It was when I returned home to Finland as the newly elected president of EFCT from the meeting in Granada in 1990 and my staff had prepared a fantastic welcoming ceremony with red carpet, decorated office, special crowning ceremonies and trumpet solos and press. So the happiness of my staff made it a very happy memory.

Why I will never forget the ECM/EFCT/ECT meeting in…
\n
\n
I will never forget the Granada meeting in 1990 as the newly elected president. I had been brought to the gala evening on a horse wagon dressed in a flamenco dress. I was placed in the middle of the Spanish dignitaries up on the podium of a night club looking down at my colleagues. None of my neighbours could speak anything other than Spanish so I was smiling to the left and right until my dear colleagues down at the floor started singing "happy birthday to you". It was not my birthday but after that they always did it in similar kinds of situations.

ECM has brought me…
\n
\n
I believe in ECM and as the past president I had the pleasure of being part of the merging preparations. I am happy that the Summer School is doing so well and has earned its place in the education program of our industry. I wish ECM every success in the future.

You cannot survive working in tourism if/without….

Without being part of the global cooperation.

Finally, I will have the time to….

\n
… to dream what I shall do when I am a grown up person.
