Annual CEO Meeting 2024, Brussels

The Annual Meeting of CEOs is a compact lunch-to-lunch event that will provide you with an opportunity for open, peer-group discussion of current prospects, issues and concerns relating to city tourism. Combining two highly relevant topics for DMO leaders, the forthcoming Meeting of CityDNA CEOs promises to be an inspiring and informative event, designed to help peers build their knowledge and support each other.

Spread over the afternoon of Monday 29th and the morning of Tuesday 30th January, two half-day workshops will each explore two key topics:

Topic 1: How city DMOs CEOs can enhance their role as local leaders of collaborative governance, within the framework of the European Commission’s Tourism Transition Pathway

With development of the Tourism Transition Pathway underway, it is of critical importance for DMOs to understand the EU’s expectations surrounding the role of DMOs in establishing collaborative governance of tourism destinations which includes public and private stakeholders, residents as well as visitors (see topic 5, Tourism Transition Pathway). During this workshop, an open dialogue with EU representatives will set the scene for our relationships with the EU and lobbying activities, while uncovering the vital issues that European city DMO CEOs need to be aware of to plan for success in their home city.

Topic 2: In a turbulent world and a changing workplace, what does it take to be an effective DMO CEO today?

Pressure on DMOs to respond to the changing environment around them only seems to increase; from political representatives, local businesses, residents and visitors. DMOs are having to change with the times, but what does this mean for the people who lead them? How do CEOs juggle demands on their time, while shaping up organisations that are fit for the future? Through a series of activities and interactive discussions, we will picture together a leadership approach where CEOs are not just figureheads but architects of transformative success and lead both inside and outside their organisation. We’ll discuss how to inspire, influence, and lead with a communication strategy that goes beyond words, fostering collaboration and unity among teams and stakeholders. In a world where remote work is no longer a choice but a strategic imperative, we will seek how to harness the power of technology to drive productivity, maintain team cohesion, and navigate the challenges posed by a decentralised workforce.

Curated and developed by TOPOSOPHY and partners, each workshop will bring together expert speakers and while giving plenty of time to compare and contrast their experiences with peers from across Europe.
