How right he was. Learning from each other, sharing expertise and thinking differently is the very essence of ECM. By creating more knowledge and by spreading it, we can make a difference. Having enjoyed another successful meeting, this time in stunning Amsterdam, I feel very strongly that ECM provides one of the very best platforms for networking and learning from each other. By collecting our joint knowledge and experience we can make European tourism competitive and sustainable.

One good example is the Crisis Monitor, which gives a good insight into the current status of European tourism. By participating in this quarterly survey, you contribute to providing a better understanding of the latest trends and developments in European tourism. To this end, the Monitor has been extended to include some analysis and a summary. Yet the Monitor will be just as useful a tool when times get better. Don’t be a stranger – take part in the next wave of the survey.

The new e-library is also a great source for finding and sharing knowledge. All the presentations from meetings from 2003 onwards will be available as well as various other reports. Do log in and make your contribution.

In the R&S Working Group, sharing and exchanging knowledge allows us to find common interests and best practices. However, we would welcome input from all of you on areas to investigate further.

Let’s be wise together!
