CityDNA Autumn Conference 2025, Tórshavn

#RefreshedCityPerspectives
In a world saturated with sameness, Tórshavn invites us to the edge — geographically, mentally and structurally — to radically rethink how we design and deliver the visitor economy.
Rather than defaulting to overused frameworks of sustainability and regeneration, this conference proposes a sharper, more actionable lens: reshaping, rebalancing and reigniting what tourism means for cities of all sizes.
From the vantage point of a small, resilient and deeply rooted place, we’ll unpack failures and successes with candour and curiosity — exploring what didn’t work and why, as well as what should be retained and reimagined.
Tórshavn is not just a location; it’s a methodology. Its remoteness encourages a slowing down, a deeper connection and a more meaningful exchange of ideas. The format will reflect this, with “walkshops”, campfire conversations, peer-to-peer forums and more time for dialogue than monologue.
#CityDNATórshavnDeclaration
The Tórshavn Declaration: A collective manifesto in the making
The Tórshavn Declaration will be co-created live during the CityDNA Autumn Conference 2025. It marks the beginning of a shared journey—a collaborative process to identify the key challenges facing Destination Marketing and Management Organisations (DMOs) and shape a more inclusive, sustainable, and purpose-driven future for the visitor city.
Framed by the PEST model (Political, Economic, Social, Technological), the Declaration will be developed through participatory workshops and creative formats that invite delegates to debate, prioritise, and propose solutions to 20 urgent challenges:
- Political: Geopolitical uncertainty, climate justice, governance and advocacy
- Economic: Financial viability, seasonality, talent shortages, and investment
- Social: Resident engagement, DEI, overtourism, and brand authenticity
- Technological: AI disruption, digital presence, data privacy, and platform shifts
The Declaration is not a finished product—it is a manifesto in the making, grounded in real-time input from the CityDNA community. Its purpose is to set short-term priorities for 2026 and lay the foundation for CityDNA’s next strategic phase, launching in 2027.
Join us in Tórshavn to shape the future of the visitor economy—from the ground up.
